Purifoy Family Has Thanksgiving Reunion

The families of Buster and Ollie Purifoy gathered for a Thanksgiving reunion Saturday, November 21, at the Church of God fellowship hall in Gurdon. They enjoyed a potluck Thanksgiving meal and a pleasant visit.
Locals Join Mission Group
J. Larry and Sarah A. Wingfield Plyler have joined the nearly 4,400 Southern Baptist International Mission Board workers sharing Christ in 125 countries among 336 ethnic people groups.
GPS Awarded$2,500 Mini-Ed Grant
Gurdon Primary School was recently awarded a $2,500 mini-career education grant from the Arkansas Department of Education.

Golden Oldies
Friday was a very busy day at the Gurdon Senior Adult Center. The volunteers at the center were honored and Eulah Wilson was presented a plaque for Outstanding Volunteer for 1998.
May, Plyler Plan Dec. 19 Wedding
Stan and Donna May of Malvern are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mandy May, to Mark Plyler, son of Larry and Sarah Plyler of Gurdon.

Old GHS Photos Preserved
The pictures of the graduates of Gurdon High School that graced the walls in the hall of the old high school building for years are being preserved. Those pictures contain 65 years of history.
Reynolds Awards Grant
Reynolds Metals Company recently awarded Gurdon School District teachers Freddie Horne and Tammy Alexander a $1,000 excellence in education grant for their project desktop publishing.
