Reynolds Awards Grant

Published Wednesday, November 25, 1998 in the Gurdon Times

Reynolds Metals Company recently awarded Gurdon School District teachers Freddie Horne and Tammy Alexander a $1,000 excellence in education grant for their project desktop publishing.

The check was delivered to Gurdon Superintendent Bobby Smithson by Paul Webb, Reynolds Metals Company Plant Manager.

Seventeen projects were submitted for consideration. A three-person committee consisting of one Gum Springs employee and two persons selected from the community evaluated the projects. All applications were submitted and judged with applicant's name and school marked to insure fairness to all applicants.

The purpose of the grant is to promote excellence in classroom education through innovative teaching activities.

Other schools submitting projects were Arkadelphia High School and Peake and Goza in Arkadelphia.
