Reynolds Awards GrantPublished Wednesday, November 25, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesReynolds Metals Company recently awarded Gurdon School District teachers Freddie Horne and Tammy Alexander a $1,000 excellence in education grant for their project desktop publishing. The check was delivered to Gurdon Superintendent Bobby Smithson by Paul Webb, Reynolds Metals Company Plant Manager. Seventeen projects were submitted for consideration. A three-person committee consisting of one Gum Springs employee and two persons selected from the community evaluated the projects. All applications were submitted and judged with applicant's name and school marked to insure fairness to all applicants. The purpose of the grant is to promote excellence in classroom education through innovative teaching activities. Articles ? to October 2008 were contributed by GateHouse Media. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
