Classy Moments

Published Wednesday, November 25, 1998 in the Gurdon Times

We are enjoying our Thanksgiving break, but will be back in class Monday, November 30. We do hope that each of our readers have a wonderful holiday.

It is nice to be able to report that Coach Ware's daughter is getting along pretty good and just glad to be home. Also, Mrs. Green's daughter came through her surgery with flying colors and she is improving daily. Knowing those children are doing better, makes us feel better.

The Junior Beta Club had a fund-raiser by having members get sponsors to pledge money for the number of cartwheels they could perform. This was not limited to students, as some of the teachers took part in the entertainment. Needless to say, it was a time enjoyed by the audience, as they lined the sidewalk to have a 'front row seat' when the fun started.

We can certainly see work that is being done to make ready for the new physical education building at the east end of the campus. We are so anxious for this to be ready to be occupied! If you have driven by you probably noticed the work that is taking place on the new football field. Progress in action!

The eighth graders will be taking the Explorer's Test on December 2 and you just cannot imagine how much they are looking forward to that day! (They are feeling sorry for themselves.)

The CMS Student Council will be conducting a food drive beginning Tuesday, December 1. Classes will compete to see which class brings in the most non-perishable items to help those who need a little help to make their holidays more enjoyable. If you would like to help, just bring non- perishable items to our building and we extend our thanks.

Mrs. Bullard has made a trip to California to see her new grandson, Matthew. Since his birth, I think we have heard the name Matthew several times. In fact, we thought she would never leave. All kidding aside, we are happy for Chris, Krystal, Justin, Linda, David and of course, Matthew. (I have a feeling that we will be looking at pictures soon!)

Yes, we have several 'deer hunters' in our building. We might even have the next 'Annie Oakley' among us, as Lynsey McKenzie really enjoys the adventure hunting provides. Although she did not kill a deer the first day, she has not given up. So, Bambi, run as fast as you can before Lynsey sees you.

We have been asked why the pictures have not been hung in the entrance way. We are waiting for one picture to complete the collection and as soon as it arrives, we will certainly take care of that exhibit. Thank you for your interest and especially for the nice compliments concerning the dedication ceremonies.

You are a very important member of our team and we do appreciate your concern and interest as we continue to make those Classy Moments at Cabe Middle School.
