Funeral services for Gilda Bear, 43, of Angleton, Texas was held Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Palms Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Streeter officiating. Burial was in Mathis Cemetery in Mathis, Texas.

Cheerleaders Attend Camp
The Gurdon High School Go-Devil cheerleaders and mascot attended the National Cheerleader's Association cheerleading camp at UALR (NCA) June 8-11.
GHS Squad To Begin Selling Ads In Program
The Gurdon High School cheerleaders will began next week selling ads for the Go-Devil program for the '98 football season. You are ask to contact Bonnie Ross at 353-4547 or Lori Calley at 353-6327 if you would like to place an ad in this year's program.
Mascot Costume Sought
The Gurdon Senior High cheerleaders are trying to purchase an official costume for the Go-Devil mascot. The cost of the uniform is about $600. Thus far a total of $309 has been raised by the cheerleaders.
Golden Oldies
A gospel trio sang for the Gurdon Senior Adult Center on May 23. An auction was held on June 26. We wish to thank those who donated items to the center for the auction.
VBS Set At Beech Street
If you want to visit a space station actually five in one week you need to make plans to go to vacation Bible School at Beech Street Baptist Church July 6-10.
Community News
There will be a benefit program at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Rev. Quinton Radford, pastor.
