Cheerleaders Attend CampPublished Wednesday, July 1, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesThe Gurdon High School Go-Devil cheerleaders and mascot attended the National Cheerleader's Association cheerleading camp at UALR (NCA) June 8-11. Evaluations of each squad attending were held daily. Each day the Gurdon squad received the Blue Ribbon (highest rating) for their performance on camp cheer and chant. In the 'home cheer' competition' they went to the finals. The cheerleaders received a bid to compete in the national competition in Dallas in December. During the camp, cheerleaders waited anxiously all week to be nominated by the NCA staffers for All-American. Seven of the Gurdon Cheerleaders were selected. Rachelle Reece, Helen Dickens, Kera'Launda Ritchie and Amy Ross competed in the All- American tryouts on Wednesday night, June 10. These girls did an outstanding job.
