Reported By PMS 8th Grade StudentsPublished Wednesday, January 24, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe 1995-96 ninth grade girls' basketball team has achieved an outstanding record of 14-2. The team has worked very hard to attain this goal. This year's Cubettes team is made up of some very talented eighth and ninth grade atheletes. Earlier in the year, the Cubettes competed in the Blevins Junior Invitational Tournament. The first game, played against Gurdon, was an easy win. The following game, against Nashville, was not so easily obtained. However, the Cubettes managed a one point victory. The junior high team went on to overcome Nevada in the finals of the tournament. Recently the Cubettes have overcome their opponents by at least a 15- to 20-point margin. The team has only a few more games before the district tournament, which is to be held in Gurdon. The Cubettes will more than likely have the top seed going into the tournament.
