For State Representative

Don Worthey of Hope has announced that he will seek the Democratic Party nomination for State Representative in District 28. Worthey is a life-long resident of Hempstead County and served 12 years as Hempstead County Sheriff.

He has been a self-employed farmer and cattleman for 30 years. He is a graduate of Blevins High School and attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. He is married to Dorris Askew Worthey, assistant vice president of Citizens National Bank of Hope. They have three children and five grandchildren. He is the son of Annis Clark Worthey and the late Dewey Worthey.

Worthey is a member of First United Methodist Churh of Hope and serves as secretary for the Century Bible class. He is also an active member of the Hope Lions Club, Hempstead County Farm Bureau, the Arkansas Auctioneers Association and the Arkansas Cattlemens Association.

"I am a fair, responsible conservative and promise to represent the whole district," said Worthey. "While serving as sheriff, I strived to be someone you could talk to about your needs and that is the kind of state representative I will be. I am experienced in working with legislators and state government in Little Rock and feel I can get right to work representing my district."
