Hickey RememberedPublished Wednesday, January 24, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneA memorial service was held for Albert Hickey at the Emmet City Hall Saturday. Hickey, the oldest fireman and Emmet until his recent passing, helped form the town's volunteer fire department. Residents of the city gathered and paid tribute to the man who loved Emmet and the fire department. They shared memories of Hickey's deeds. All agreed he was honest, supportive and a friend to everyone. A tree was planted in his honor. A plaque will be placed on a permanent marker in from of the tree later on. Shown, Chuch Otwell, Emmet mayor, helps Tina Beard and Kelly Owen with the tree planting. Hickey's wife, Fern, was on hand for the ceremonies.
