Allegedly Take Dollar Bill, $1 Food Stamp In StrongPublished Wednesday, January 24, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneArm Robbery of Prescott Youth Two juveniles face serious jail time on charges of strong arm robbery. According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, a 13-year-old youth was accosted while going to Taylor's Big Star He was confronted by a 17-year-old and another youth, 16, who beat and robbed him, taking one dollar in cash and a one dollar food stamp. When the report was filed, officers detained two suspects fitting the description given by the victim. They were identified by the victim and taken to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office for questioning. Kortney Samuels, 17, was charged as an adult and is being held in the Nevada County Jail without bond. This is because Samuels was already out on bond in another case. Westmoreland said the 16-year-old is expected to be arrested and charged as an adult later this week. Strong arm robbery is a class B felony, carrying a sentence of not less than five nor more than 20 years in the state department of correction.
