Guthrie Receives OBU Leadership ScholarshipPublished Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesJennifer Guthrie, a senior at Gurdon High School, has received a Leadership Scholarship for study beginning in the 1996 fall semester at Ouachita Baptist University, according to Randy Garner, director of admissions counseling at Ouachita. The Leadership Scholarships at Ouachita are giving in varing amounts and are awarded to incoming students based on academic potential, leadership background and involvement in school, church and community activites. According to Garner, the scholarships are a reflection of the university's continuing commitment to reward students who display traits reflective of Ouachita's educational goals. "We are pleased that Jennifer has chosen to attend Ouachita," Garner said. Guthrie plans to major in accounting at Ouachita.
