Published Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Prescott's junior boys were narrowly beaten by Camden Fairview, as they fell 49-45.

The Cubs played it close in the first period, but trailed 14-12 as the buzzer sounded sending the game to the second stanza. By halftime, the Cubs had taken a slender lead at 26-24.

However, Fairview fought back in the third and regain the lead at 39-32. While the Cubs battled back, they just ran out of time.

Brandon Wilson had the hot hand for the Cubs as he ripped the cords for 24 points. Scott Hobbs followed suit with 10 in the contest.

Camden was paced by Stacy Andrews' 15, while D. Christopher added 10.

The Cubs were nine of 21 at the line, while Fairview was 14 of 28 in free throws.

The Cubs then tangled with the Redbugs of Fordyce on Jan. 26, but went down 43-28.

A cold-shooting first period spelled doom for Prescott's junior squad as they wound up on the short end of a 12-2 score.

They shot a little better in the second period, but still trailed 24-7 at the break. Fordyce upped its lead to 32-10 after three.

The Cubs were paced by Wilson and Carlos Franklin, both scoring 10.

Jeremiah Smith and Manny Reynolds each score 10 for the 'Bugs.

The Cubs had another tough night at the stripe as they only hit four of 13 attempts. Fordyce was two of four at the line.

The situation didn't improve any Saturday as the Cubs fell prey to the Bobkittens of Hope, 26-13.

Again, a frigid first period doomed the Cubs as they trailed 12-3. The score was 16-4 at the half and 21-7 at the end of three.

Andrew Fellows led Prescott with six points.

J. Watson led Hope with 12 points.

The eighth grade Cubs went down to Hope 29-21 on Jan. 20; fell victim to Nashville 35-23 on Jan. 22; and dropped a heartbreaker to Blevins 46-45.
