It's been a tough season for the Prescott Curley Wolf basketball team, but eight of the most determined young men in the region take the court twice a week to do battle.

Despite having several members quit the team, those remaining give it everything they have every game, all game.

On Jan. 19, the Wolves tangled with Delight's Bulldogs, fighting tooth and nail until they fell 47-39.

A horrendous first quarter cost the Wolves as they ended up trailing 15-1 after one.

Prescott's crew had more trouble in the second period as they were bitten by the 'Dogs 23-5. The score was 35-13 at the end of three.

The Wolves found their stroke in the final stanza, but it was too little, too late.

Barrett Yates led the Wolves' charge with 13 points. Jason Webb followed with eight.

The 'Dogs were led by Jackie Harvell's 12.

It was a difficult night at the line for Prescott as well, as the Wolves were seven of 17. Delight was five of 10 at the stripe.

The Wolves traveled to Stamps on Jan. 23, where they fought valiantly before being stung 59-35.

It was a close game after one as the Yellowjackets held an 11-10 lead, but the Wolves were blanked in the second period and trailed 29-10 at the break. Stamps' superior numbers showed in the second half as the lead was extended to 42-24 after three.

Webb led the Wolves' attack with 10 points. Carlos Haynie and Shane Pipkin each scored seven.

Stamps was paced by Roderick Johnson's 18. Antonio Martin added 10.

Prescott was four of 10 at the free throw line, while Stamps was 15 of 22.

The Redbugs gained a measure of revenge for their loss on the gridiron against Prescott as they posted a 65-44 win Jan. 26.

It was a numbers game for Fordyce as they had more available bodies than Prescott.

The 'Bugs led 18-6 after one; were up 37-12 at the half, and held a 59-22 lead after three.

Yates played string music to the tune of 14 points, while Webb ripped the cords for 12.

Darren Brazil poured in 22 for the 'Bugs while teammate Kevin Williams added 20.

The Wolves were six of 11 at the line, while Fordyce was 18 of 27.

In a makeup game against Nevada, the Wolves went down 71-54.

The shorthanded Wolves fought hard against the Bluejays, but trailed 24-13 at the end of one. They were down 36-22 at the half and the score was 54-37 at the end of three.

Webb led the Wolves with 17 points. Yates contributed 16 in the effort.

Tavoris Blakely led the Jays with 23. Reginald Reed added 16 and Lamarcus Page had 10, while Joseph Young scored 11.

The Wolves had a better night at the charity stripe as they connected on 15 of 18 free throws.

The Jays were also hot at the line as they netted 20 of 24 shots.

The Wolves tangled with Nashville Tuesday night and were scheduled to play Lockesburg Feb. 2.
