Workshop For Teachers To Be Held At Old WashingtonPublished Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune"Daily Life in China" will be the theme of a one day workshop for high school and college teachers and students to be held at Old Washington Historic State Park on Friday, February 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The workshop is funded in part by the Arkansas Humanities Council and will offer a number of special seminar sessions, in addition to an authentic Chinese meal catered by Hunan's Chinese Restaurant in Arkadelphia to be served at noon. These special sessions will emphasize specific parts of Chinese culture, including traditional Chinese food, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese literature and Chinese education. Dr. Fu Guo Ying, who teaches Chinese at Ouachita Baptist University, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Those leading workshop sessions include Rosemary Chu, a head resident at Ouachita Baptist University; Tang Jinwen, a senior OBU finance major from China; Dr. John Wink, Ouachita professor of English; Dr. Tom Greer, the Clarence and Bennie Sue Anthony professor of Bible and the Humanities at OBU, and Lui Yan Chi from the Arkansas State Department of Human Services. There will also be a special black and white photography display of Chinese work in the 1874 courthouse to be viewed during the day. The workshop is sponsored by the Old Washington Historic State Park, the Southwest Arkansas Education Co-op in Hope and the Pete Parks Institute for regional studies at Ouachita.
