At January 31st ServicesPublished Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayunePastor Tyronne Davis and the congregation of Cothran Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church devoted the Sunday morning worship service on December 31, to recognition of its college students. Pastor Davis and member chose this mean to show encouragement and support for the students enrolled in college. Johnny Hamilton Jr. was invited to address the students on the importantce of a college education. Hamilton spoke at length on "Setting Priorities." He admonished the students to always include God at the very head of any plans they made, to work hard to complete their course of study and to be mindful of and thankful for the sacrifices made to enable them to attend college. Following Hamilton's address, the students were presented with a copy of the Bible Promise book and a check for $75 each to help with books for the spring semester. The checks were made possible due to the establishment of the Bernice Berrymon Scholarship Fund at the church. Ms. Berrymon instituted the scholarship before her death in July, 1995. Recipients of the subsidies were Tara Gulley, a senior at the University of Central Arkansas; Jason Smith, a junior enrolled at Henderson State University; Timothy Gulley, a sophomore, enrolled at University of Central Arkansas; and Benjamin D.
