Four To Draw Firefighters Pension

Sunday, February 4, at the Emmet City Hall, three of Emmet's Volunteer Firemen were recognized for their 20 years as a volunteer firefighter.

This made them eligible for the pension benefits through the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund that was started in the year of 1976, this was also when the Voluntary Fire Department was established.

Billy Joe Arnett, Jimmy Rinkle and Bobby Harden, as well as the late Albert Hickey, whose wife will receive a pension in his behalf, recieved the first checks as presented by Emmet's recorder-treasurer, Anita Allen. Hickey was also recenty honored for his long dedication to the fire department and as a special citizen of Emmet.

Hardin, Rinkle and Arnett will also continue to serve the volunteer fire department as an active member.

The city of Emmet wishes to give thanks and respectfully honor the full body of the volunteer fire fighters, according to a news release. These dedicate their time to learn the safety techniques and risk themselves when an emergency arises.
