Brown Running For JPPublished Wednesday, February 14, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesAl Brown announced this week that he is a candidate for the Clark County Quarum Court representing District 10. He is a Democrat. He is a lifelong resident of Gurdon, a Gurdon businessman for 38 years, (retired) and past member of the Gurdon City Council for five years. During this time he was commissioned to oversee the street department and engineered the updating of Lowe Airport. Brown is past member of CCID for six years, a member of CCIC, past president and vice president of Rotery Club and he is a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a member of the Gurdon Chamber of Commerce, of which he is a past (2 terms). He a World War II veteran and was Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No 4678 for 12 years. He was a member of Gurdon Fire Department for 20 years. He worked with Clark County and State Highway Department in getting Highway 182 resurfaced, which begins this year. He is an active member of First Assembly of God Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and trustee board. He is a member of Gideons International Arkadelphia Camp.
