Warrant Issued For Burglary SuspectPublished Wednesday, February 14, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneWarrants have been issued for a suspect in the burglary of the Prescott High School principal's office and gymnasium. According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator for the Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old Prescott male will be charged as an adult in connection with the Jan. 2, 1996 burglaries. The suspect's name is not being released yet, Westmoreland said, because he hasn't been arrested yet. This is because the suspect is currently in custody at the juvenile boot camp at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. The suspect was sent to the boot camp for violating the terms of his probation. Westmoreland said shortly before the suspect is released from the camp, he will be arrested by the NCSO and brought back to Prescott, where he will face felony charges of burglary and theft of property. Authorities were notified of the break in at PHS and the gym on Jan. 2, 1996. Cash, basketball clothing, shoes and other items were taken in the burglary. "We feel the same individual is responsible for the burglaries at Prescott Elementary School and Prescott Middle School which occurred the following weekend (Jan. 6)," Westmoreland said. "Our investigation is continuing, though charges will not be filed against this suspect in these burglaries yet," he said. "We feel he didn't act alone, and other arrests are pending."
