Published Wednesday, February 14, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Have you ever thought about buying your own hospital facility complete with equipment?

Well you might could, and for the low price of only $723,000.

Nevada County JPs were told Monday night that was 75% of the appraised value of the former Nevada County Hospital and its equipment.

Nevada County tax assessor Barbara Butler told JPs she used the state's guidelines in determining the value of the property. All the information was released during the regular quorum court meeting at the Nevada County Courthouse.

Total value of the property was given as $26,000 for the 10.5 acres the building is sitting on, $634,805 for the building, and $303,264 for the medical and miscellaneous equipment in the building.

State law requires the county to sell any property at least for 75% of the appraised value and the total of all that property together is $964,069.

In addition the former administrator's home appraises at $69,411.

No figures were released on the appraised value of the property and building where Nevada County Ambulance Service is located or the property where the walking track and physical fitness equipment sits.

The property will be offered for sale -- some which will contain the required specific advertising on value and other necessary information in legal notices.

Nevada County Judge John William Barham said he also had advertising prices for larger area newspapers, including the Dallas Morning News and the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
