NEVADA SENIOR GIRLS

The Nevada Lady Blue Jays have also won a berth to the regional, in spite of only winning two regular season conference games.

The big difference came in the district touranment, when the Lady Jays knocked off Fouke and Bradley before losing to Genoa in the quarter-finals round.

They were to have played Tuesday, meeting the third place team from the 7A North Conference. If they advance they will play again Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to the Lady Jays, it will be the Norphlet, Lewisville and Genoa senior girls in the regional.

The Lady Jays did not had an impressive season this year. Through last week they had won 11 games while losing 17.

However, coach Robert Hall said the senior girls were the most improved team going into the tournament last week.

Three Nevada players scored in double figures as they defeated Fouke, 73-57, on February 12 in the district tourney.

Tomeka Muldrow scored 21 points, Dilesha Easter 19 and Vanessa Evans scored 14 points for the victors.

Misty Farley of Fouke was the game's leading scorer with 26 points, and Rachel Schaffer scored 11.

In the second round they soundly defeated the Bradley, 63-37, knocking the Lady Bears out of a trip to the regionals.

The Lady Jays led 13-12 after one quarter, 30-20 after two and 46- 28 after three.

Tomake Muldrow of Nevada was the game's leading scorer with 19 points. Vanessa Evans scored 18 points and Shonda Young scored 10.

Tonia Jacks was high for Bradley with 11 points.

Everything was different in the quarter-finals. In addition, the Lady Dragons had the home crowd behind them.

Genoa led 33-18 at halftime before winning it, 56-40, behind the shooting of Karen Purifoy, who finished with 26 points.

Muldrow scored 10 points for Nevada.
