Blue Jays Dominate Bradley For ChampionshipPublished Wednesday, February 21, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneFour teams received first place trophies in the finals of the 7A South District Tournament Friday night at Genoa. Four second place trophies were also given to the same teams. The Nevada Blue Jays won the senior boys' division of the tourney and the Lewisville Lady Red Devils won the girls' division. These two teams also won second place trophies for being runners-up in the conference. However, the two teams coming in second place in the tournament were the conference champs. Therefore, the Norphlet senior girls and the Bradley senior boys received a first place trophy for being the district champs and a trophy for finishing second in the tournament. Both Bradley and Norphlet receivd byes to the finals. The Blue Jays and the Lady Red Devils received byes to the semi-finals, which were held on Thursday of last week. Each division is sending four teams to the regional this week at Bearden. These four teams will face opponents from two other conferences: 7A North and 7A East.
