Otwell Seeks Sheriff's JobPublished Wednesday, February 21, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneSteve Otwell has announced his candidacy for Nevada County Sheriff and Tax Collector. "My 32 years as a resident of this great county, and my affiliation with its law enforcement agencies qualify me for this position," he said in a prepared statement. "I also believe that being a certified volunteer fireman and Emmet School board member speak for my belief in public service." He is a lifelong resident of Nevada County and a graduate of Emmet High School. His wife of 12 years, Vivian Warren Otwell, is a graduate of Prescott High School and they have three chidlren, Holly, Shane and Brianna. "Being a Christian and a local church member, I am a strong advocate for morality and justice in all walks of life," he states, "and if elected, he will apply these principles to the office I am seeking. I promise to be fair and honest as a public servant and I will ensure equal representation to all constituents in Nevada County." He further states, "You, the voters of this county, are more than just check marks on a ballot; you are the friends and acquantances that I have made over the past three decades I have lived here.
