People around Caney are busy gathering garden vegetables. Junior and Ann and daughters have been shelling peas and shucking corn. They took time out to meet at Cale Saturday for a get together with the other Loe families.

J.W. and Maxine Glass entertained friends at their home Saturday. Lunch guests were Phil and Janet McAdams, Pat Brannan, Kenny, Pat, Tim and Leah McCullough, Steve, Deb and Cody Jackson, Tim Nunn and Shauntelle and Payton Bennett.

Saturday evening friends, 71 in all, gathered and enjoyed 15 freezers of ice cream. There were volleyball games for the young and old throughout the evening, which ended with a balloon lift off.

My son-in-law, Don Callicott, cooked the big fish Saturday and all my family came to my house for supper. Daughters, Janice and Phyllis, and Cyril, Brandon and April Stewart, Amy Sweat, and Chris and Denise Sweat of Norman were all present.

Pam Cleveland and Maxine Glass attended the funeral service for Martha Landston last week in Hope.

Hannah Cleveland was house guest of her cousin, Leah McCullough, Friday night.

Son-in-law, Cyril Stewart, spent a couple nights in Baptist Medical Center last week. He was having problems with blood pressure and heart beat. Janice and I went to Little Rock to visit him. We tried to visit Don Hicks while we were there, but he was out of his room. Hope they are both feeling better.

Morris Baptist had a visiting preacher Sunday. Bro Tal and his family were on vacation in Chicago. Bro. Nathan Lewelyn of West Monroe, La., filled in for him. He and friend, Janene had lunch with Lucy Glass and Bidney Steed at Western Sizzlin.

There was a military funeral for Richard Kale Tuesday at Morris Baptist Church. Richard lived in Florida and was married to 'Pickie' Hicks.

Leo and Gladys Monk of Hicks, La., visited Don and Janice Callicott Sunday afternoon. Leo is one of Don's hunting buddies.

Wayne and Betty Godwin visited Pocket and Nez Sunday afternoon.
