County Eligible For LoanPublished Wednesday, February 21, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesSecretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman has named 69 counties in Arkansas as eligible for USDA emergency farm loans because of losses due to drought conditions from May 1 through October 1, 1995. Hot Spring County was named as a primary disaster county in this area. Also available in this area, because they are contiguous to other primary counties, are Clark, Dallas, Nevada and Pike counties. Farmers in all 69 counties have eight months to apply for the loans to help cover part of their actual losses. To be eligible, they must have suffered at least a 30 percent loss of normal production, be able to repay the loan and other loans, be unable to obtain credit elsewhere, have adequate security and have multi-peril crop insurance if available. Further information is available at the Farm Service Agency Office at 1030 Village Drive in Arkadelphia. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
