Blood Drive Is March 8

A blood drive will be conducted in Gurdon on March 8 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The drive will take place at Gurdon's First State Bank.

Every seven minutes someone needs blood. Accident victims, surgery patients, newborns, burn victims, cancer patients and many others depend on blood and blood products seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The Arkansas Region of American Red Cross provides the total supply of blood and blood products to 52 hospitals in 54 Arkansas counties. Each day at least 300 units of blood must be collected to ensure each hospital has an adequate supply.

If you are 17 years of age or older and weigh a minimum of 105 pounds, you can donate blood for an Arkansan on March 8.
