I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July holiday.

There have been several reports of sickness among our neighbors or members of their families. Bill Carman and Kay Nelson both have relatives in hospitals in serious condition. Margie Knight spent several days in the Camden hospital last week.

David and June Nicholas are scheduled to be in Iowa for a few days visiting relatives. Milton Barlow was to have preached July4 in David's absence.

Some people of this area are suffering from a malady that causes their thumbs to turn purple. I believe it might be called the purple hull peas syndrome.

Missy Beaver is on a long trip with about 40 other teachers as part of a graduate course. She will visit several of the western states and some of the national parks. Steve has been left home alone, but is managing to get by. Missy will be teaching at Harmony Grove this fall, which is much closer to home than El Dorado.

Our thought this week: "Measure wealth not by the things you have, but by the things you have for which you would not take money."
