Advance To State Basketball Tournament At Vilonia (cont)Published Wednesday, February 28, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayuneand the Lady Owls hit 14 of 23 tries. Maybe, though, the Wolverettes had a little more incentive to win than Star City had in the finals. Jeff Butler, Cecily's husband, told the team before the game they could shave his head if they won. They won, and true to his word, Butler allowed the girls to reduce his wind resistance Monday morning. His wife was first to create his new look as she shaved a steak down the middle of his head. From there, the rest of the Wolverettes took their turns until his pate was cleaned. Coach Butler has also given her team a challenge if they should win state, but this will be revealed only if and when the state title rests safely in the Wolverettes' hands. They begin their quest for the state title with a date against Pulaski Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday in Vilonia. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
