RUMORS ABOUNDPublished Wednesday, July 7, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneRumors have been circulating about Rafael Ramirez, the railroad killer, being a suspect in the murder of Chester Hooker. Hooker was killed in 1997 at the Broadway Hotel. According to Kisselburg, the FBI was notified as to Ramirez possibly being involved in the murder, but said nothing is definite yet about his being a suspect. Officials with the FBI said the method used to kill Hooker, who was bludgeoned to death with a piece of lumber, is not how Ramirez typically commits his crimes. Primarily, Kisselburg said, Ramirez is a sex offender who has been known to murder his victims. However, he pointed out, Ramirez being a suspect in the Hooker murder is still nothing more than a rumor. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
