Explorers EstablishedPublished Wednesday, March 6, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Nevada County Sheriff's office is now sponsoring the Nevada County Explorer Post 80 program. The Explorer program is designed to teach young adults, ages 14 to 21, male and female, about law enforcement. Some of the things they will learn is fingerprinting, criminal investigation, defensive tactics, dispatching and accident investigation. They will be offered the opportunity to go on various field trips also. The cost of the program is $7 per person. Anyone interested in joining the program can contact Brent Jordan, the program's elected president, at 887-2229 or Jason Arrington, the program's advisor at the Nevada County Sheriff Department, at 887-2616. Post 80 will meet every first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in the Nevada County courthouse. Other elected officers of the program are Tony Overton, vice president; Brock Jordan, secretary; Sherry Smith, rerporter; and Jason Jobe, treasurer.
