Sever Weather Meeting Is Scheduled For Thursday

A countywide severe weather meeting will be held Thursday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m. in the library of the Nevada School. Bruce Burkman, meteorologist from the Shreveport National Weather Service, who specializes in severe weather preparedness, will conduct the meeting.

The Shreveport weather office has the responsibility of issuing severe weather warnings for Nevada County during severe weather situations.

Burkman will be emphasizing the importance of tornado and other severe weather during the upcoming storm season.

More severe storms occur during the months of March, April and May than all other months combined.

Even though this weather briefing is directed to law enforcement officials, volunteer fire fighters and other emergency type personnel, anyone is welcome to attend.
