elle.

"I'd rather have them be angry with me and no one get hurt," Smithson said. "If we sponsor an activity and someone gets hurt, we'd be stuck."

Smithson told the board the sponsors had informed Gill the superintendent had no problem with the prom being held on the Belle.

Tommy Overbee had the lone voice in favor of allowing the students to party on the Belle. He suggested having a deputy along to watch and make sure no one drank while there.

The board discussed the possibility of allowing the trip only if the students agreed to all ride a district bus.

However, Smithson said the students and sponsors will most likely reject this option.

Additionally, he said a new policy will be drafted for next year stating if an activity is held outside the county the students must ride a district bus. "Then," Smithson said, "they'd be insured."

The third item on the agenda was to move the regular board meeting from March 19 to March 26.

This is because the 19th falls during Spring Break and many teachers won't be available for the meeting.

Smithson said March is also when teachers are evaluated and all three principals are needed to help.

The panel agreed and moved the meeting to March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Cabe Student Center at GHS.

Following the meeting, Burns left immediately after adjournment, but Smithson, Overbee and Runyan remained and discussed the price of a new school bus and seating for the GHS gym.
