Regional Waste Board Examines Options (cont)Published Wednesday, March 13, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayuneis, then, would lead to the districts ability to recycle even more, therefore producing even more revenue. However, Ball said this is a project which will take a year to two at best, and shouldn't be rushed into. The board agreed, and gave him permission to look into the situation to see how feasible it could be. Ball said a major headache is the public and government want to see landfills done away with. "We've got to position ourselves to go with the flow," he said. "Landfills are on their way out, but we have a possible alternative (with the pellet manufacturing process)." Wright said the biggest problem solid waste districts are having is the legislators saying garbage can't be left uncovered overnight. He said laws are being handed down without the money to back them up. "They're sending us rules and regulations that make no sense," he said. In other business, the district's waste tire program was officially approved, with three members selected to be on a joint board. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
