Cub Thinclads Run WellPublished Wednesday, March 20, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Cub tracksters competed in two meets last week with good results. At the De Queen relays the Cubs finished fourth overall with 32 points against a competitive 19-team field. The highlight of the meet was a first place finish in the 1600-relay as team members Fred Hopson, Ryan Zachery, Calvin Flemons and John McKelvey took home the relay trophy. At the PHS practic meet the Cubs finished first place overall with 215 points over Gurdon with 147 points in a dual meet. Highlights of this meet included first place finishes in all four relays. Members of these relay teams included Andrea Fellows, Brad Harris, David Fain, Matt Brannon, Ed Glenn, Fred Hopson, Ryan Zachery, Calvin Flemons and Justin Jernigan. Other first place finishers included Jarrod Yates in the shot and discus; Brad Harris, hurdles; Andrew Fellows, 800; Ed Glenn, 200; and David Fain, pole vault. Place finishers at the De Queen relays were -- Discus: Jarrod Yates, second place with 132 feet 2 inches. Shot put: Jarrod Yates, fifth place with 44 feet. 100 hurdles: Johnathan McKelvey, fourth place with 18.5 feet. 400 dash: Johnathon McKelvey, second place with 56.7 seconds. 1600 relay: Team of Fred Hopson, Ryan Zachery, Calvin Flemons and Johnathon McKelvey, first place with a time of 3:57. Place finishers at the Prescott practice meet were -- Shot put: Jarrod Yates, first place with 45 feet 3 inches; D. Gummerson, second place with 38 feet; J. Jernigan, third place with 36 feet 9 inches; and O. Harris, sixth place with 35 feet 10 inches. Discus: J. Yates, first place with 127 feet 10 inches; A. Burke, second place with 105 feet; J. Miller, third place with 98 feet 5 inches; D. Gummerson, fourth place with 90 feet 5 inches; J. Jernigan, fifth place with 84 feet 7 inches; D. Hill, and sixth place with 81 feet 9 inches. Pole vault: David Fain, first place with 7 feet 6 inches. High jump: C. Flemons, second place with 4 feet 10 inches; E. Glenn, third place with 4 feet 10 inches; A. Fellow, sixth place with 4 feet 4 inches. 3200 relay: Team of A. Fellows, B. Harris, D. Fain and M. Brannon, first place with a time of 10:53; and B. Martin, A. Hearnsburger, C. Franklin and B. Woodley, second place. 100 low hurdles: B. Harris, first place with a time of 16.9 seconds; A. Hearnsburger, third place with 18.8 seconds; B. Woodley, fifth place with 19.1 seconds; and O. Harris, sixth place with 19.8 seconds. 400 relay: E. Glenn, F. Hopson, R. Zachery and C. Flemons, first place with a time of 48.4 seconds. 100 dash: J. Jernigan, third place with 12.7 seconds. 1600 run: B. Woodley, second place with 6:19. 800 relay: E. Glenn, C. Flemons, F. Hopson and R. Zachery, first place with 1:40.4. 400 dash: J. Miller, second place with 61.1 seconds; and A. Burke, third place with 67.6 seconds. 800 run: A. Fellows, first place with 2:43; B. Harris, third place with 2:47; D. Fain, fourth place with 2:50; S. Giles, fifth place with 2:51; and R. Nolan, sixth place with 3:24. 200 dash: E. Glenn, first place with 25.6 seconds. 1600 relay: J. Jernigan, R. Zachery, F. Hopson, C.
