Dickerson Finds last Two POWsPublished Wednesday, March 20, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThis happened in the summer of 1945 at Camp Butner, North Carolina. This clipping was in the Durham North Carolina Herald. His was known as Buck Dickerson instead of Claude B. Dickerson as stated in the article. Taken from the Durham North Carolina Herald: "The caputre of the last two prisoners of war who escaped from the PW Camp at Butner recently, were apprehended last night while walking about one and one-half miles from Creedmore on Highway 15, toward Oxford. Both the men, Rudolf Wenzel and Guenther Rodam were captured without any trouble by a guard at the PW Camp who was sitting on his front porch and recognized them. Cpl. Buck Dickerson, the guard picked up the prisoners about 7:30 o'clock last night, public relations officials disclosed." Dickerson's stated "His landlord had a 1936 Plymouth coupe which his daughter-in-law, Margaret Moss and my wife, Dot drove three miles to Camp Butler with me and the two prisoners in the trunk of the car.
