ingled and Cowling walked to load the bags.

The bases were more than cleared when Webb walloped a grand slam.

Cornelius then walked and C. Vanhook grounded out. Jimmy Stockton doubled Cornelius in.

Jones grounded out and Montgomery reached on an error, which scored Stockton. Montgomery was called out trying to steal second because of batter interference by Rockett at the plate.

Cowling, who replaced Yates on the hill faced five batters in the bottom of the sixth, but none scored. After the first two batters reach on an error and a walk, Cowling fanned the side.

Just because it was a Prescott-Gurdon game, the Wolves added a pair in the top of the seventh.

Rockett was hit by a pitch. He was replaced at first by Pipkin. Brian Vanhook went down on strikes. Cowling doubled Pipkin in, and Johnston doubled Cowling home.

Matt Wingfield walked but Johnston was tagged out at the plate while attempting to score on a wild pitch. C. Vanhook's fly out ended the inning.

Gatlin went down on strikes to start Gurdon's seventh. Hayes doubled to keep the inning going, but McGalliard flied out, placing the Devils on their last life. Thomas walked, but W. Griffin grounded out to give the Wolves an 18-7 win.

Yates, 1-0 on the season, pitched three and two-thirds innings, facing 26 batters, fanning seven, issuing 10 walks, four hits and getting tagged for six runs.

Cowling, finishing up the game, faced 16 batters, fanning five, walking four and giving up one hit.

Hunter was the losing pitcher for Gurdon.

Then came the trip to Fouke.

Wingfield, in his first start on the hill of the season, was shellshocked early.

The Wolves had opened the game going down in order as Fulks, Williams and Jones struck out.

S. Crabtree flew out to start the Panther's part of the first, but Savell singled and East walked. Anthony singled, driving in Crabtree and Savell. M. Miller ended the frame by flying out.

Again, it was three and out for Prescott as Montgomery was fanned, Rockett flied out and Cowling struck out.

Lynn struck out for Fouke, but Green doubled. D. Crabtree was hit by a pitch and C. Miller walked to load the bases. S. Crabtree was issued a free pass and credited with an RBI as Green scored.

Savell walked D. Crabtree in and East singled C. Miller and S. Crabtree home. Anthony reached on an error, which scored Savell. M. Miller doubled, but East was gunned down at the plate as he attempted to score. Lynn flied out to end the inning as the 10th man to bat.

Prescott got its first base runner in the third as Webb walked. However, he was left at first as Stockton flied out and Cornelius and Fulks were fanned.

The Panthers struck for three more in the third as Green grounded out to open the frame. D. Crabtree reached on an error and C. Miller walked. S. Crabtree singled D. Crabtree and M. Miller home. Savell doubles S. Crabtree in and East grounded out to end the frame.

The Wolves broke through on the board in the fourth.

Williams walked and Jones singled him to second. Montgomery singled, driving Williams in. Rockett grounded into a fielder's choice, with Jones tagged at third.

Prescott's comeback ended with Cowling striking out and Webb grounding out.

For the first time of the day, Fouke went down in order. Anthony was fanned and M. Miller and Larey both flied out.

The Wolves were able to get men on base in the fifth, but couldn't bring anyone home. Stockton and Cornelius walked to start the fifth, but Stockton was forced at third. Williams was fanned and Cornelius was tagged at the plate while trying to score on a passed ball.

Jones, replacing Wingfield on the hill, walked Green, but sent the next three batters back to the dugout to ride the pines.

Prescott cut into Fouke's lead in the sixth with a pair of runs. Jones walked, but was replaced on first by C. Vanhook. Montgomery doubled him to third, and Rockett singled C. Vanhook and Montgomery home.

Cowling fanned and Johnston, who ran for Rockett, was gunned down trying to steal third. Webb singled, but Stockton struck out.

The Panthers posted their final run in the bottom of the sixth.

Savell grounded out, but Buckley reached on an error. Heigle walked and M. Miller flied out. Larey singled Buckley in, but Green was fanned to end the inning.

The Wolves were down to their final three outs.

They opened the seventh with Cornelius getting a free ride before Fulks grounded out. Williams walked and Cornelius scored on a pick-off attempt as the Panthers attempted to catch Williams stealing second.

Wild throws to third and home allow Williams to score as well.

However, the comeback wasn't to be as Jones and Montgomery flied out to end the game.

Wingfield lasted two innings, facing 15 batters, fanning one, walking four, allowing five hits and being charged with seven runs.

Jones finished the final four innings, facing 19, striking out three, walking three, giving up two hits and four runs.

The Wolves will be playing in the Fouke Tournament Friday at 2:30 p.m., with a date against the Texas High junior varsity squad.

Should Prescott win, they will be in the semifinals, playing at 6:30 p.m. Friday. However, a loss would put them in the consolation bracket and a 10 a.m. Saturday start time.

The consolation bracket finals will be played at noon Saturday, while the game for third place is slated for 2 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for 4 o'clock.

The game against Gurdon, originally scheduled for March 25, has been moved to April 3 at 4 p.m. This will be the Wolves' conference opener. The game was moved because the Wolves will be on spring break next week.

Once they return to school, the Wolves have an April Fool's Day contest with Nevada at 4 p.m. at the Johnson Sports Complex.
