Published Wednesday, March 20, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Three Southern Arkansas University students were arrested Monday morning on charges connected with the break-in at the Y-Country Store and Rosston Auto Parts.

According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator for the Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Sheriff's Office, the trio was picked up, charged and arraigned Monday morning. All three entered pleas of not guilty before Judge Jim Hudson.

The three, Tom Futch, 18, of McCaskill, Daniel Williams, 19, of Minden, La., and James Rodgers, 19, of Prescott, were charged with two counts of commercial burglary and one count of felony theft of property.

All have been released on $5,000 bond each.

Sheriff Harold Vines arrested two men on drug charges Tuesday, March 12.

Mark S. Miller, 33, of Nevada County and Bruce Allen, 32, of Prescott, were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine.

Miller, however, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and as a felon in possession of a firearm.

Vines and three deputies had gone to pick Miller up on a warrant from Hempstead County, concerning the drug, weapon and paraphernalia charges.

While at the scene, Vines procured a search warrant for the Miller abode from Eighth Judicial District Circuit Judge Jim Gunter.

Charges against Miller in Nevada County are pending, as the subject has been released to Hempstead County authorities.

However, the investigation against him in Nevada County is continuing, Vines said.
