City Helps PCFA.ORGPublished Wednesday, March 27, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe city of Prescott has contributed $540 to the PCFA.ORG project of the Prescott Community Freenet Association (PCFA). Eddie Daniel, vice chairman of PCFA, accepted the donation. "A large amount of information about the city of Prescott is already on the PCFA.ORG computer and can be viewed by anyone in the world who has an internet connection," Daniel said. "We hope people will visit PCFA.ORG, see what our community has to offer, and maybe decide to move here -- perhaps bringing along their business or industry," he continued. PCFA always welcomes information from businesses, clubs, churches and governmental agencies which can be added to PCFA.ORG, according to Daniel. PCFA.ORG can allow hundreds of users around the world to access information any given time through the internet connection provided by Prescott Schools and the Arkansas Public School Computer Network. PCFA.ORG provides local access to the internet through local incoming telephone lines (887-1842). However, the number of local persons who can use the PCFA.ORG computer system at any time is determined by the number of telephone lines, which cost $540 each per year. The city's contribution underwrites one of the incoming telephone lines. The Prescott Lions Club underwrites another line and PCFA wants sponsors for more lines. User accounts on PCFA.ORG are free (no initial fee, no monthly fee, no hourly fee -- but PCFA actively solicits donations). Send a self-addressed and stamped envelope to 615 Oak Street, Prescott.
