Annual Rabies Clinics Set County-Wide For April 6th

Published Wednesday, March 27, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

A series of rabies clinics will be held in Nevada County on Saturday, April 6. The annual clinics are sponsored by the 4-H Clubs in Nevada County.

The 1945 General Assembly of Arkansas passed an act requiring all dogs in the State to be vaccinated once a year against rabies. In 1975 this act was amended to include cats in the Rabies Control Act and is made the duty of all dog and cat owners or persons having possession or control of dogs and cats within the state to have such animals vaccinated with vaccine against rabies.

The schedule for the vaccinations follows:

  • Willisville -- 8:30-8:45 a.m.
  • Falcon -- 9:00-9:15 a.m.
  • Bodcaw -- 9:30-9:45 a.m.
  • Country Corner -- 10:00-10:15 a.m.
  • Rosston (T.J.'s) -- 10:30-10:45 a.m.
  • Laneburg -- 11:00-11:15 a.m.
  • Prescott Fairgrounds -- 1:00-2:15 p.m.
  • Redland (old store) -- 2:30-3:00 p.m.
Veterinarians Dr. Raymond Whitehead and Dr. Larry Franks will be administering the vaccine at a charge of $7 per dog or cat, including a metal vaccination tag. This fee is payable at the time of the vaccination.

The Nevada County 4-H program will receive $1 from each vaccination.

If you cannot make the April 6 date, you may get the vaccinations at either the Animal Care Hospital (Dr. Raymond Whitehead) or Franks Animal Hospital (Dr. Larry Franks) on Saturday, April 27, from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon.

This is a convenient opportunity to take care of vaccinating your pets and also benefit the Nevada County 4-H youth.
