Sponsors Needed For Merchants Relays

Published Wednesday, April 3, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

The 22nd annual Prescott Merchants relays will be held at the local stadium on Thursday, April 18.

Local merchants will be receiving information on the procedure for sponsorship of the 35 different events to be held in this meet.

This meet, barring bad weather, is usually the best meet of the relay season as area athletes are reaching their conditioning peak and teams are making last minute adjustments before thier conference meets, according to Eddie Jackson, PHS track coach.

The idea of individual sponsorships for each event started in Prescott several years ago and has been copied by many southwest Arkansas schools.

The financial support given by local merchants allows athletes to win the Olympic type gold, silver and bronze medals that adds so much to the meet.

Any business which wishes to help and needs more information should contact the PHS track and field department at 887-3661. "We appreciate the support of the local merchants in this meet," coach Jackson said.
