To Prescott Community Freenet AssociationPublished Wednesday, April 3, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Firestone-Prescott Community Fund has contributed to the PCFA.ORG project of the Prescott Community Freenet Association (PCFA). David Crowder, one of PCFA.ORG's users, accepted the $850 contribution on behalf of PCFA. The contribution underwrites another incoming telephone line so that local people can use PCFA.ORG. Along with contributions from the Prescott Lions Club and the City of Prescott, three lines are now fully funded at $540 per year for each line. Other local organizations, several businesses and many of PCFA.ORG's users have contributed to PCFA to help pay for the computer, which cost about $5,000 to set up. PCFA relies upon the contributions, since it does not charge for user accounts. The internet connection is provided by Prescott School District and the Arkansas Public School Computer Network. Hundreds of users around the world can access information on PCFA.ORG any given time. The local telephone lines (887-1842) let local computer users view PCFA.ORG's information and access the rest of the Internet. Accounts on PCFA.ORG may be obtained by sending a self-addressed and stamped envelope to 615 Oak Street, Prescott. Or call PCFA.ORG from a computer and log in as 'new' (no password).
