Center Grove Hopes For VFDPublished Wednesday, April 3, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesA meeting is scheduled for Thursday night to establish a volunteer fire department in the Center Grove community. According to Mary Burns, Jim Burns, from the Clark County Office of Emergency Services, and insurance representatives will be on hand to answer any questions the public may have. Approximately 85 families could be affected by a volunteer fire department in the Center Grove area. Burns said a VFD could affect their homeowners insurance premiums, lowering them significantly. The meeting will be held Thursday evening at 7 at the Center Grove Methodist Church. "We need as many people there as possible," she said, "to show their support for the VFD." Should residents of the area want to form a VFD, board members will be elected at this time as well. In addition, Burns said, names of those interested in being volunteer firemen will be taken.
