Gurdon Drug Bust Lands Two In JailPublished Wednesday, April 3, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesTwo Gurdon residents are in Clark County Jail on drug charges. According to Gurdon City Marshal David Childres, the Gurdon Police Department obtained a search warrant for the home of Julius Marks, 54, and Micky Fields, 27, Thursday. Working in conjunction with the Arkansas State Police, the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Task Force, officers with the GPD raided the residence around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. When they entered the home, they found four large "rocks" of an off-white substance believed to have been crack cocaine. These "rocks" were the size of golf balls, according to Childres. In addition, several smaller "rocks" were found at the scene. A small amount of cash was also found at the residence. Childres said the cocaine had a street value of about $5,000. "We've had several burglaries, robberies and forgeries," Childres said, "with the proceeds going to Marks. This should clear up several cases." Childres said officials followed this trail to the suspects. Marks and Fields were charged with possession of a controlled substance, namely cocaine, with intent to deliver. This is a class Y felony which carries a sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
