Clay Jones Family

Published Wednesday, July 14, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

On June 18, 33 descendants of the late Susie Nunn Jones and Clay Jones of Gurdon checked into their hotel in St. Augustine, Fla., for another fantastic family reunion to remember.

In 1997, this same Jones family met in Santa Fe, N.M. for the celebration.

St. Augustine, founded in 1565, is America's oldest permanently settled city. Today, it's an ideal vacation for families, offering old world charm, historical monuments, unique attractions with beaches and fine restaurants. This three-day reunion was planned and directed by the Richard Clay Jones family of Valdosta, Ga.

Beverages were cold, food was hot and both were plentiful; conversation was warm, friendly, interesting and ever flowing.

Arrangements had been made for many organized activities, including a narrated train tour of the old city in a hassle free style.

Attending the reunion from Gurdon were Charlie and Wanda Goodman.

Two children of Susie and Clay Jones, Relda Faye Jones Meeks of Hayden, Colo., and Richard Clay Jones of Valdosta, Ga., both former Gurdonites, were also in attendance.

Other daughters were unable to attend. They were Irene Jones Milloway of Albuquerque, N.M., Louise Jones Crowder of Wilmington, Calif., and Mable Jones Ball of Gurdon. Fay Jones of Gurdon, a daughter-in-law, was also unable to attend.

Family members are excited about the next reunion scheduled to be held June 2000 in Hot Springs with a tour of Gurdon on the itinerary.
