Tiger Traks Are April 19-20Published Wednesday, April 10, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesIt will be a two-day extravaganza of fun and competition for the students of Ouachita Baptist University participating in the 23rd annual Tiger Traks event, billed as "Arkansas' Most Exciting College Weekend," to be held April 19-20 on the OBU campus. The event is sponsored by the Special Events Committee of the Ouachita Student Foundation, an organization of students who help raise funds for scholarships for upperclassmen students and assists the university in student recruitment, professional job contacts and various public relations-oriented activities. "Tiger Traks is a great weekend where Ouachita students can get together, make some new friends, bond with the old ones, and just have some fun competing against each other in a variety of events," said Heather Callaway of Booneville, co-chair of the Special Events Committee. Thirty-three teams comprised of eight students, four men and four women, will participate in 10 Tiger Traks events to include: pigskin pass, egg toss, basketball relays, the word game "Taboo," dart toss, "oozeball" (mud volleyball), the building blocks game of "Jenga," an outdoor obstacle course, raft races, and tug-of-war. "The 'pigskin pass' competition is new this year," said Callaway. "It replaced the Frisbee golf competition. The event is designed to see the degree of skill that students have as they attempt to throw a football at targeted areas." The weekend's events will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at A.U. Williams Field with teams participating in the egg toss where members will attempt to pitch and catch an uncooked egg without letting it break. From here, participants will move onto the "pigskin pass" portion of the competition to be held at A.U. Williams and at the football practice field. Friday's last round of competition will begin following the pigskin pass and egg toss with teams rotating between four different events inside the Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center. Trek teams will test their luck at basketball relays, the building blocks game of "Jenga," dart toss, and the word game of "Taboo." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
