Mary Fithen To Serve On Committee

Mary Fithen of Prescott, a registered nurse practicioner at the Mercy Medical Center in Gurdon, has been selected to serve as chairperson of the board of nursing's prescriptive authority advisory committee.

Fithen, who has been a registered nurse since 1976 and achieved her registered nurse practioner status in 1981, was notified of her appointment to the committee by Governor Jim Guy Tucker.

In a letter issued, Governor Tucker stated, "I know you will do a magnificent job in this capacity and I appreciate your willingness to accept this responsibility."

According to the new law, the board of nursing is charged with appointing the first chairperson. Faith A. Fields, MSN, RN executive director of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, notified Fithen of her appointment in early March.
