Restoration Grants Available

Published Wednesday, April 10, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Governor Jim Guy Tucker has announced that the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, will accept applications through June 30 for projects to share in some $50,000 in Historic Preservation Restoration Grants.

The grants provide up to $5,000 in matching funds for small-scale restoration projects at buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the country's official list of historically significant properties, or to improve structures listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places so they can meet the more stringent requirements of national register recognition.

All applications for Historic Preservation Restoration Grants must be postmarked no later than June 30.

For more information, write the AHPP at 1500 Tower Building, 323 Center Street, Little Rock, AR 72201, or call the agency at 324-9880 [TDD 501-324-9811], or send e-mail to keng@dah.state,ar.us.

The AHPP is the DAH agency responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state's cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center, the Commemorative Commission, the Natural and Scenic Rivers Commission, the Natural Heritage Commission and the Territorial Restoration.
