The spot for Ward 4 Position 2 also has a trio of candidates. Vernon Meeks, Donna Wingfield and Joseph H. Johnson are all running for the post.

In looking at the uncontested races, Julie Stockton gets a free ride as county clerk, while Barbara Butler does likewise as tax assessor. Sydney DuCharme has no challenger for her post as county treasurer.

Gene Hale has no opposition for the municipal judge's position.

For the unopposed JP races, Gary Lewis is in District 1; Willie Wilson has District 2 sewn up; Curtis L. Johnson is in District 4; District 6 had Leo Holloman; Adron Hicks earns District 7; Billy Bob Rhodes is in District 8; and George Clary takes District 9.

In the constable races, Danny Martin is the lone candidate from the Caney Township; James Osborn is unopposed in Emmet; and Larry Miller will earn the Taylor seat.

The unopposed city alderman races are: Ward 1 Position 1, with Dick Bright; Ward 2 Position 1, Benny Trevillion; Ward 2 Position 2, Danny Beavert; Ward 3 Position 2, Ann Stockton; and Ward 4 Position 1, James Roy Cornelius.
