Fax From Switzerland Means Sell For Holly's

Holly and Mike Ross of Prescott were surprised when they received a fax from a woman in Switzerland. The woman had used her computer to search the World Wide Web on the Internet and found the home page for Holly's Health Mart and Home Medical Equipment on PCFA.ORG.

The Swiss woman's fax inquired about an electronic blood pressure measurement device that would interface with her computer. Ross faxed a message to the woman with information on the product, which stores blood pressure readings, date and time of each reading, trends and other information on a computer. The next day, Holly's received a fax from the woman ordering the device.

Holly's Health Mart is Nevada County's only full line supplier of home medical equipment, including home oxygen therapy, nebulizer and updraft machines and medicines, hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, quad canes, commode chairs, lift chairs, bathroom aids and much more.

PCFA.ORG is a computer system operated by the Prescott Community Freenet Association, a non-profit organization. The computer provides local information and Internet access to the people of the Prescott area. In late December, PCFA.ORG made space available to all businesses, clubs, churches and other organizations so the information could be searched by the world. According to Danny Stewart, PCFA.ORG Administrator, this is the first local business to receive an order resulting from PCFA.ORG. About a month ago, another sponsor received an inquiry and order for a catalog from Japan.

Ross commented, "Holly's Health Mart and Home Medical Equipment, formerly Guthrie Drug and Jim's Discount Pharmacy, has been in business since 1911. Today's technology and the local Internet access provided by PCFA.ORG has helped us to make our first international sale after 85 years in business. I hope this will inspire local businesses to get actively involved in placing information on Wolf Den and supporting the Prescott Community Freenet Association."
