Math-A-Thon Raises $3,700

Students at Gurdon Primary School recently raised an astounding $3,735 for St. Jude Children's research Hospital located in Memphis Tenn. The announcement was made by Susan Norris and Jerry Childers, St. Jude Math- A-Thon coordinators. Over 100 kids participated in the event and each one will receive a certificate of appreciation and a free pass to Six Flags Theme Park. Children raising $35.00 or more will get a St. Jude T-Shirt and those bringing in over $75.00 will also earn a math-a-thon sports bag.

Krissi Davis was the top money raiser. She will receive a $75.00 cash prize and a dual deck radio recorder. Katie Barbaree and Jack Woolf tried for second place and will receive $50.00 each. Third place finisher Jill Plyer will get $25.00.

Those raising $75.00 or more were the following: Kendall Wade, Corey Daniell, Sean Sporer, Kim Hulan, Kyle Rogers, Aaron Charles, Cody Caldwell, Chris Young, Rae Shawn Stephens, Hayli Coon, Charles Carter, Avangeling Miller, Blake Deaton, Carolanne Duke, Marco Giles and Nick Dickerson.

Those raising at least $35.00 were: Tyler Childres, Caitlin Conly, Michael Benson, Nikita Brisco, Joslyn Brown, Tabitha Manley, Josh Jordan, Ryan Harrison, Rafael Buford, Rhett Hunter, Tyler Smith, Hunter Johnson, Amber Quinn, Alye Smith, Jordan Purifoy, Haleigh McDaniel, T.J. Tackett, Derek Buck, Brandi Benson, Marcel Anderson, Brittney Walker, Haley Griffen, Taylor Pace, Candace Cooper, Airreall Kinder, Lynsey McKenzie, Takia Williams, Lacey Loy, Morgan Dillard, Cashelle Hawthorne, Houston Wells, Kendra Young, Summer Loy, Cullen Pledger, Andre Anderson, Jason Wells, Allison Anderson and Robyn Lemay.

In addition, a pizza party will be enjoyed by Mrs. Purifoy's class for bringing in the most money. Mrs. Gatlin's room will get a ice cream party for being second. Mrs. Duke's class will be treated to a popcorn party.
