GMS Odyssey Team Competes In Little Rock; Emerges Fourth

The Gurdon Middle School Odyssey of the Mind team attended state competition Saturday at North Little Rock High School, where they competed against 13 other teams to emerge fourth overall.

Gurdon was one of the smallest schools entered in the contest, going up against teams from Little Rock, Hot Springs, Blytheville, Conway and others.

GMS was eligible to go to state, because of their second place finish at regional competition in March. At regionals the team also received a special Ranatra Fusca Award for exceptional creativity in writing and performing.

Team members are Andrew Wilson, Brandi Escalante, Crystal Simpson, Patrick Stone, Martin Downey, Whitney Hogue and Jessica Guthrie. Their coach is Kay Downey.
