Everyone is invited. GHS senior girls volleyball camp will be held July 19-21 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the high school gym. Interested students must contact Tammy Alexander for more details by July 15th at 353-4677 between the hours of 9:00 and 8:00. Cost will be $30 with refreshments (not lunches. Recipes are needed for a cookbook that is being compiled by supporters of the Little League Association with the proceeds of the sale of the cookbook benefitting Cabe Field and the association. Craft yourself an old fashioned Christmas celebration this year and start early. The Clark County Extension Homemakers Council is sponsoring Christmas in July, a free exhibit and demonstration of holiday craft ideas. It will be held Wednesday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. in the Extension Homemakers Kitchen at the Clark County Fairgrounds on Highway 67 one mile south of Arkadelphia. Come by the Extension office at 423 Clay Street to see examples of the crafts to be made, and to pick up supply lists. There will be a benefit musical program for Sharon Lasker of Gurdon on Saturday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Munn's Chapel Baptist Church in Prescott. Lasker is waiting for a liver transplant. Her medical expenses are enormous. Area choirs, groups and soloists are invited to come support this program. If you cannot attend, it is requested that you send a donation. Kelly Adams and Shane Smith of Gurdon announce the arrival of a son, Gavin Shane, born Friday, July 9, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. Gavin measured 19+ inches and he weighted 7 pounds and 7 ounces. Grandparents are Mark and Patricia Adams of Gurdon, Rhonda Galis of Whelen Springs and Dale Smith of Curtis. He is welcomed home by a sister Kennedy Alexis Adams. The Clark County Industrial Council will meet July 15 at the Entergy building in Arkadelphia. This month's sponsor is Regions Bank. John Lipton, vice chairman of the Arkansas Highway Commission, will discuss the remedies for road congestion in the area. Red Springs Baptist Church will have its annual homecoming Sunday, July 18. The morning speaker will be Bro. Dan Borum, a former pastor. After the morning services there will be potluck lunch served in the fellowship hall at noon. Afternoon music will be provided by a gospel ladies group 'Redeemed' from Antioch Baptist Church in Little Rock. Everyone is invited to attend these services. There will be no evening services. July 24 there will be a men's and women's conference on family and evangelism at St. Clair Baptist Church in the Burtsell community, off Highway 51 North of I-30. Hear great groups, soloists and St. Clair's Mass Choir. Pre-registration and continental breakfast is between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Cub Scouts are organizing. Vacation Bible school at Beech Street Baptist Church will continue through July 16 each night from 6:00 to 8:30. This year's theme is 'Mt. Extreme: the Ultimate Good News Challenge.' Gurdon High School class of 1989 10-year reunion will be held soon. Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be in Gurdon on July 15 and 29 at the Gurdon Municipal building from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. New applicants are welcome. Call 353-2514 for an appointment or more information. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.
